LOBBYIST:  Pineau Policy Associates has asked all clubs that belong to ATV Maine to do a Political Survey.  This survey is very important so we know who to call when it comes time to show our support in Augusta.  Please take the time to answer this survey the best you can.

Governor's ATV Task Force:  You can check out the recommendations made by the Governor's ATV Task Force by going to their website at: ATV.Taskforce@maine.gov . Once you have looked over the recommendations, please write up a testimony stating what you liked or didn't like about the recommendations and then mail your testimony to Mary Morse at 388 Swain Rd. Rumford, ME  04276 or email it to marym50@localnet.com .  You can visit the ATV Maine website at www.atvmaine.org for more info or call Dan at 562-8873.

Website Addresses:
Legislative Proposed Bills - www.janis.state.me.us/legis.  You can find the proposed bills on this site and view them so that you can write your testimonies on why this bill should either pass or not.  If you need help writing a testimony, check out some testimonies on: www.atvmaine.org site.  Remember, it is important that you call your Representative and Senators as well as write testimony.  After you have written your testimony, please email it to secretary@atvmaine.org. She will get the testimony written in the correct format and make sure it gets to the proper person.
To call your Representative or Senator:  Senator message line is 1-800-423-6900 and the Representative message line is 1-800-423-2900.  Again, please make the call.  We need everyone to do their share and help save our sport!!

GOOD NEWS!

According to Dave Crum, here is how the March 27th meeting went:

DEAD BILLS: 77; 304; 368; 369; 370; 474; 52;

354: Alive barely; amended to drop everything except to include, helmets for snowmobiler and passengers under 18 on funded trails.

854: to be carried over until later as things develop (whatever that means)

359: a. No reciprocity with anyone (because of the need for funds ie, the snowmobile guru says this is a big fiscal winner, so they went for it)

        b. Add: Raise ATV to match snowmobiles at $33 resident and $68 out of state.

        c.  Add: entire fee to be sunset and discussed again only after two years.

        d.  Add: Funds collected from out of state and $3 difference ($30 to $33 resident and their estimate at $200,000) to go to ATV Trail Grant Fund and Law Enforcement Trail Grant Fund.

Roberta Scruggs has checked with Paul Jacques who will be chairing the Governor's Task Force about forming an ATV Action Group and invite anyone--from ATV clubs to landowners who want to help, to join it.  Paul sees no problem with getting some grassroots efforts started while the task force works on its report.  If you want more information on this Action Group, please email to Roberta at rscruggs@megalink.net
